One-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Iron Slip Decoration, attributed to Thomas Chandler, Edgefield District, SC, mid 19th century, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and flared rim with inner ledge designed to hold a lid, decorated with a dramatic slip-trailed looping line motif, applied in dark-brown iron slip against a gray-green ground. Provenance: From a fifty-year SC collection. Excellent condition with a few tiny nicks to inner rim for lid. H 10 7/8".
