Lidded Stoneware Cake Crock with Floral Decoration, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1880, wide crock with heavily-tooled shoulder and ribbed handles, decorated with floral motifs on front and reverse. Swag-decorated lid, possibly original to the crock. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and curving cobalt line below each handle. Crock in excellent condition with a small chip to interior of rim. Lid with glazed-over chips to flange on underside, otherwise excellent condition. Diam. (of crock at rim) 10 3/8" ; H (of crock) 5 7/8" ; Diam. (of lid) 11".
