Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Baresville, OH Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with rounded and tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "G. Hyer, / Dealers in / Dry Goods / Groceries / & c. / Baresville, / Ohio." Freehand stripe decoration above and below. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some clay residue to its slightly-leaning rim and a small piece of salt residue at base. H 9 3/4".
