Cobalt-Stenciled Stoneware Canning Jar with Wheeling, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, wide, tapering jar with semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "CHARLES KLEIN. / FANCY & STAPLE / GROCERIES. / FRESH MEATS & C. / 745 COR. 8TH. & MARKET ST / WHEELING. W. VA." A few small in-the-firing chips to interior of rim. A small amount of clay residue to top of rim. Minor surface wear. A minor in-the-firing contact mark at base. H 7 5/8".
