Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Syrup Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONE WARE CO / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with flared and pinched pouring spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized, looping branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Chipping to exterior and interior of spout. A short in-the-firing line at base. Some staining / mottling to surface. Some light fry to cobalt. H 14 1/2".
