Extremely Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Hunt Scene Pitcher with Cobalt Decoration, American, possibly New Ulm, MN, second half 19th century, molded pitcher with upswept spout, hand-pulled strap handle, and scrolled vine decorations to collar, the body decorated with a relief vignette of a stag cleaning itself beside a stump, and a dog attacking a doe. Designs feature brushed cobalt highlights and small, hand-incised details. Salt-glazed surface. The first example of American pottery that we have offered in this combined size and form, executed in a very rare salt-glazed stoneware medium. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 4 3/4".
