Exceptional Anna Pottery Stoneware Lid with Incised Decoration, Wallace and Cornwall Kirkpatrick, Anna, IL, circa 1880, domed lid with flattened top and chip-carved edge, the handle in the form of a ring flanked by two applied, incised, and cobalt-highlighted leaves. Domed section of lid profusely-decorated with incised and cobalt-highlighted leaves against a crosshatched background. Top of lid decorated with overlapping incised and cobalt-highlighted leaves. The finest Anna Pottery lid that we have seen, distinguished by its over-the-top incising and desirable salt-and-cobalt surface. Provenance: Acquired by the consignor directly from a member of the Kirkpatrick family in the 1970s. Very nice condition. A 1 1/8" chip to flange on underside. A small chip to chip carved upper rim. Diam. 6 1/4" ; H 3 1/4".
