Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Stenciled Eagle Motif, Stenciled "A.P. DONAGHHO, / PARKERSBURG, W. Va.," circa 1875, ovoid jug with tooling to shoulder and spout, featuring bold-faced A.P. Donaghho maker's stenciling above a crisply-stenciled design of a spread-winged eagle, carrying arrows and an olive branch in its talons and a banner in its beak, inscribed "Excelsior Pottery." A small chip and light wear to spout and staining. Otherwise as-made condition with in-the-firing contact/stacker marks, including a 1" piece of adhered clay to side of jug. H 14".
