Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Syrup Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with flared and pinched pouring spout, decorated with a crested bird perched on a leaf with scrolled stem. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. A small chip on interior of spout. A 5/8" flake to side of jug. A very faint 3" horizontal line at base, probably surface level only. H 14 1/4".
