Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face with Weeping Eyes, Stamped "B.B. CRAIG / VALE, NC," early fourth quarter 20th century, ovoid jug with flared spout, decorated with a hand-modeled and applied face including white, orb-like eyes with melted "weeping" treatment, arching eyebrows with incised details, ears, nose with carved nostrils, and open mouth with broken china teeth. Surface covered in an olive-colored alkaline glaze with rutile accents. Underside impressed with Burlon B. Craig maker's mark. Proper left ear broken and reglued including a small chip to ear's top edge. Otherwise excellent condition. H 10".
