Very Rare Salt-Glazed Stoneware Pinched Jug with Incised Inscription, attributed to the Perine Pottery, Baltimore, MD, late 19th century, tall-necked jug with tooled accent near mouth and purposefully-depressed areas around body, incised with the humorous inscription, "Soothing Syrup / for Old and young." Includes old metal and cork stopper. One of only a few examples of hand-inscribed Perine pinched jugs known. Spout broken and reglued with old staple repair. Handle reglued. H (excluding stopper) 10 1/2".
