Lidded Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1875, wide, cylindrical crock with ribbed handles and combed banding to shoulder, brush-decorated on the front and revers with pairs of horizontal floral motifs. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and curving line of cobalt below each handle. Includes swag-decorated Remmey lid, likely original to the crock. Crock with small chips and wear to rim, a 5/8" chip to one handle, and some staining. Lid in very nice condition with some minor in-the-firing flaws, the underside and flange with some light surface wear. Diam. (of crock) 10 1/2" ; H (of crock) 5 1/2" ; Diam. (of lid) 11".
