Rare Cobalt-Decorated and Incised Stoneware Presentation Pitcher, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1880, ovoid pitcher with footed base, semi-rounded rim, and molding at base of collar, decorated with brushed floral designs extending from the base of the handle, flanking the incised and cobalt-highlighted name,"Mrs. Yapp," referring to Catharine Yapp, the widow of Seneca Yapp, a local Philadelphia waterman who died in 1852. Professional repair to spout, rim chips, 3" section of foot, and cracked(?) area extending approximately 4 1/4" down proper left side of pitcher's front. Hairline to underside, not visible on interior. H 7 1/4".
