Six-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Vine Decoration, Beaver, PA origin, circa 1855, semi-ovoid jar with tooling to body and shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, brush-decorated with three rows of vining above a freehand "6," applied over a slip-coated surface. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Areas of surface wear. A minor, glazed-over dent to rim. An overfired contact mark near base on reverse. A 3/4" base chip on reverse. H 16 7/8".
