Yellowware Daniel O'Connell Portrait Pitcher, Ralph Beech or Thomas Haig, Jr. Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, mid to late 19th century, molded in the form of the bust of Irish patriot, Daniel O'Connell (1775-1847), the exterior with mottled brown Rockingham glaze over a yellow ground, the interior glazed white. Made at the Pottery of Ralph Beech or possibly later at the Thomas Haig, Jr. Pottery using Beech's old mold, a subject believed to have appealed to the growing Irish population in Philadelphia and New York. Crack in base of handle. Small worn spot to handle. A few small spout chips. H 7".
