Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "BANGOR STONE WARE CO / BANGOR MAINE," circa 1885, cylindrical crock with applied lug handles and semi-rounded rim, brush-decorated with a fan-tailed bird perched on an elaborate branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A small filled chip on interior of rim. Two small in-the-firing iron pings near base on reverse. Two tiny nicks to each handle. H 10 7/8".
