Half-Gallon Cobalt-Stenciled Stoneware Jug with Wheeling, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, ovoid jug with tooled spout, featuring the stenciled advertising, "SHAEFER & DRIEHORST CO. / WINES & / LIQUORS / 1428 MAIN ST. / WHEELING, / W.VA." Filled lamp wire hole at base. A glazed-over dent and in-the-firing fissure to handle. A small spout chip. A small in-the-firing ping to shoulder. Tight spider lines to underside, one of which continues 1 3/4" up base. H 9 3/4".
