Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Two-Color Slip Decoration and Incised Floral Decoration, Inscribed "M," Stamped "M. TYLER / ALBANY / MANUFACTURER," circa 1840, cylindrical jug brush-decorated with a foliate motif in unusual brown slip below the cobalt-highlighted maker's mark. Shoulder incised with a floral motif beside a large serifed "M," possibly identifying Moses Tyler as the jug's specific maker. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. A few small in-the-firing iron pings to bottom edge. Some light surface wear. A large amount of staining. H 10 3/4".
