Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Sponged Cobalt Decoration, attributed to the Thompson Pottery, Morgantown, WV, circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled accents and semi-rounded rim, decorated around the shoulder with a large band of cobalt sponging between freehand stripes. Freehand "2" to midsection. Thompson Pottery capacity mark to shoulder. Excellent condition with a chip to interior of rim.
