Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "S. HART & SON. / FULTON," NY State origin, circa 1880, cylindrical jug with tooled shoulder and flattened spout, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a bird perched on a looping flourish. An in-the-firing horizontal line to lower handle terminal. Reverse with minor salt residue and a small in-the-firing surface flake. Matte areas to cobalt. What appears to be a 2 1/2" vertical line near the midsection on the jug's proper left side is actually a pre-firing scratch. H 13 1/2".
