One-and-a-Half-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "FENTON & HANCOCK / ST JOHNSBURY VT," circa 1852-1858, cylindrical jar with applied lug handles, tooled shoulder, and rounded rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant featuring spotted blossoms and long, graduated stamens. Includes salt-glazed lid, possibly original to the jar. Jar with a small rim chip on front and minor chips to interior of rim and inner rim for lid, a 5 3/4" hairline from rim on reverse, a slightly-recessed in-the-firing contact mark to proper left side, a minor glazed-over base chip, and light staining. Lid with an edge chip with a 2 1/4" line extending from it. H (excluding lid) 10 3/8".
