Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO. / WORCESTER, MASS," circa 1858-1877, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: James Chebalo Collection. Some fry to cobalt. A few small chips to interior of rim. A minuscule nick to proper left handle. A few typical, very minor in-the-firing flaws to surface. Some minor staining. H 10 5/8".
