Three-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Stamped "D S," Daniel Seagle, Vale, NC, circa 1850, highly-ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout and ribbed handle, decorated with a streaky olive-colored alkaline glaze. Very nice condition. An in-the-firing ping to shoulder on front. A thin 2" crack to edge of handle. A few minor nicks, possibly in-the-firing. "1499" written in black marker on underside. H 15 1/2".
