Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Numeral Decoration, Stamped "TROY, N.Y. / POTTERY," circa 1875, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of the number, "3," with scrolled ends, spots along interior edge, and swags along exterior edge. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Crazing to base area, primarily on reverse, adjoining a thin 6 3/4" vertical crack on proper right side of jug. An in-the-firing iron ping to proper right side of jug. A minor chip and minor wear to interior of spout. H 16 1/2".
