Small-Sized Glazed Redware Cake Mold, Stamped "J. BELL," John Bell, Waynesboro, PA, circa 1840, with spiraling pattern, the upper body and interior rim decorated with sponged manganese over a yellowish ground and covered in a clear lead glaze. This work bears Bell's lesser-seen "J. BELL" mark, used during an earlier period in his career in Waynesboro. Provenance: From a forty-five-year VA collection. A flake and wear to central tube. Wear to rim. A thin, 2" L-shaped crack descending from rim. H 3 1/2" ; Diam. 5 3/4".
