Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Leaf and Floral Decoration, Stamped "M. & T. MILLER / NEWPORT, PA," circa 1870, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a stem bearing two large leaves and a hanging tulip, accents with looping vines. Brushed "X" above. Impressed "3" twice. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity marks, and handle terminals. Some fry to cobalt. A 1" flake, two small chips, and a minor nick to interior of rim. A 5/8" chip to proper right handle. A few nicks to proper left handle. A 3 1/2" crack to top rim on proper right side of jar. A 5/8" surface line to proper right side of jar's front. H 11 7/8".
