One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "CORTLAND," Madison Woodruff possibly with Romanzo Smith, Cortland, NY, circa 1867-1869, semi-ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-squared spout, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of flowers conjoined by a looping stem. Additional looping flourish below. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Excellent condition with two short lines to base on front, some staining, and minor fry to cobalt. H 11 1/4".
