One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Clarington, OH Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "JACOB ROEMER. / DEALER IN / DRY GOODS, GROCERIES / & C. / CLARINGTON. / OHIO." Freehand stripe decoration to upper body and base. Underside with rare inscribed "10" in brushed cobalt. Fry to cobalt. Some staining to jar's proper left side. H 10 1/4".
