Rare and Fine Half-Gallon Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Stamped "H. FOX," Chatham County, NC, third quarter 19th century, ovoid jug with elaborate incised banding to midsection, shoulder, and spout, impressed at the midsection with Himer Fox maker's mark and at the shoulder with a half-gallon capacity mark and Masonic simple. Surface covered in a heavy salt glaze with "orange peel" texture throughout. Desirable size and rare incised band treatment. Excellent condition with a small chip to interior of rim and an in-the-firing contact mark to midsection. H 9 1/4".
