Rare Flint Enamel Spittoon, "HANKS & FISH / SWAN HILL / POTTERY / S. AMBOY, N.J.," circa 1850-1852, circular twelve-sided form decorated with streaks of amber and blue over a yellowish clay ground. Underside impressed with rare Swan Hill Pottery relief swan mark including a faint impressed maker's mark to ground below. Recessed top with small hole broken through it, including a 2" line extending through the hole. H 4 1/2" ; L 8 1/2".
