Stoneware Jar with Abstract Cobalt Decoration, Hudson River Valley, NY origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, applied lug handles, and slightly-flared rim, decorated on the front and reverse with a wavy slip-trailed cross motif accented with spots. Provenance: Warren F. Hartmann Collection. Spider crack on underside including a small likely-reglued wedge on underside and flakes along the cracks. This damage forms two cracks at base and a third crack extending to midsection of jar. Some additional tight spider lines to surface of jar on one side, not visible on interior. A salt adhesion to midsection on one side. H 8 1/4".
