Scarce Small-Sized Stoneware Canning Jar with Jackson Courthouse, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, cylindrical jar with recessed "wax sealer" rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "A.M. CARSON & CO. / DEALERS IN GEN. / MERCHAN. / BUTTER. EGGS & POULTRY / SPECIALTIES. / JACKSON COURTHOSE / W. VA." Provenance: From a fifty-year West Virginia collection. A short crack from rim on left side of jar. A small in-the-firing lime ping to left side of jar. Areas of crazing/thin lines to surface, not visible on interior. A small in-the-firing ping to rim. Wear to rim and inner rim for lid. H 5 7/8".
