Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1825, ovoid jar with footed base, flared collar, and arched tab handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with a horizontal stem bearing tulips and large, graduated groups of leaves. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 7/8" flake to rim on front. Two small chips and a small inverted U-shaped crack to rim on reverse. A thin crack across underside, continuing several inches diagonally up reverse of jar and ending at midsection below one handle. Three small chips to bottom edge. H 11 1/2".
