Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Impressed Decoration, Stamped "COMMERAW.S / STONEWARE," Thomas Commeraw, Corlears Hook, Manhattan, NY, early 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled neck, featuring an impressed and cobalt-highlighted drape-and-tassel or bowknot motif resembling clamshells. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Crazing to shoulder area. Some small surface flakes to upper body. An iron ping to left side of jug, which was brushed over with cobalt prior to firing. Chipping around base, some of which is glazed over. A 1" hairline on underside continuing 1 1/4" up base of jug. H 13 1/2".
