Redware Loaf Dish with Profuse Yellow Slip Decoration, probably Philadelphia, PA, second quarter 19th century, oval form with coggled edge, the lead-glazed surface decorated in yellow slip with alternating wavy trails and crossed, scrolled devices using a three quill slip cup. Strong decoration and slightly smaller size than is typically found with this form. Rim chips. A thin piece of adhered in-the-firing clay on reverse. Interior survives in excellent condition with only minor wear to lead glaze. Dimensions: 13 1/4" x 9 1/2".
