Two Stoneware Crocks with Cobalt Bird Decorations, Northeastern U.S. origin, fourth quarter 19th century, a three-gallon crock with slip-trailed chicken pecking corn motif, probably Brady & Ryan, Ellenville, NY, circa 1885; paired with a five-gallon crock with bird-on-plant motif, stamped "S.B BOSWORTH. / HARTFORD. CT.," circa 1890. Chicken pecking corn crock with heavy chipping to rim, surface flakes to body, a 3" Y-shaped line to shoulder on front, not visible on interior, a thin 4" crack from rim on reverse, chips to one handle, wear to opposite handle, flakes and scratches to interior, and exfoliation to underside. Bosworth crock with wide, top-to-bottom crack from rim on reverse, forming a 6" Y on underside, old wire around rim, a few small chips to interior of rim, and a small worn spot to front of rim. H (of larger) 12 3/8".
