Manganese-Decorated Redware Jar with Lid, probably NJ origin, circa 1840, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, flared rim, and unusual depressions to center of each handle; surface decorated with large swathes of manganese under a clear lead glaze. Includes original domed lid with manganese decoration. Wear to rim, handles, and body of jar. Base chips. Lid with chips to edge and flange on underside, the finial with chips and wear. H (including lid) 12".
