Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "S.T. BREWER. / HAVANA.," NY State origin, circa 1853-1859, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of a flowering tulip plant featuring for spotted blossoms. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A large chip to rim on right side of front. Small chips to interior of rim. A small chip to one handle. Opposite handle with a small chip on top with faint Y-shaped line emanating from it. Flaking to interior. Nicks around inner rim for lid. A long horizontal Y-shaped line extending from left side to reverse of jar. A long crack on underside, forming a Y at base area on front. Some additional surface crazing to underside, not visible on interior. A small surface flake to shoulder on reverse. Some staining. H 12".
