Very Rare Glazed Redware Tankard Pitcher, Stamped "BAECHER / WINCHESTER VA," circa 1880, cylindrical form with wide spout and spurred handle, the lead-glazed surface covered in cream-colored slip and decorated with marbled manganese. The only example of this form by Anthony Bacher that we have seen. A 2 3/4" x 1 5/8" loss to rim, which has been filled. This damage includes an inverted Y-shaped crack descending from it, which has been ground down. Reglued handle with wear along crack lines and other additional wear to handle. A chip and wear to spout. Two small chips and light wear to rim. H 5 5/8".
