Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "M.&.T. MILLER / NEWPORT. PA," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a tulip plant bearing two blossoms flanking long, stalk-like leaves. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Some fry to cobalt. Small chips to interior of rim. Some traces of old paint to surface, including a splash of gray paint to right flower, unrelated to any restoration. Spots of staining. H 13".
