Scarce Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Charleston, SC Advertising, attributed to Nathan Clark, Jr., Athens, NY, mid 19th century, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, featuring the impressed and cobalt-highlighted advertising, "GRUBER & MARTIN / GROCERS. / CHARLESTON.SC" above an elaborately-brushed flowering stem. A horizontal crack and minor chip to handle. A shallow, in-the-firing base chip, measuring 1 1/2". Two minor in-the-firing pings to one side. H 15 1/2".
