Six-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "A. CONRAD, / NEW / GENEVA. / PA.," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with stenciled wheat and floral motifs surrounding Alexander Conrad maker's stenciling. Base with stenciled "6" flanked by fleur-de-lis motifs. Freehand stripes to shoulder and base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Crudely-restored sections to rim. Small chips to one handle. Grease residue/staining to surface. Network of surface lines to underside. Wear to cobalt. A 3 1/4" line from rim on on front. H 16 1/4".
