Rare Miniature Stoneware Jar with Profuse Cobalt Spot Decoration, Albany or Troy, NY, early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, tall collar, and arched lug handles, decorated throughout with brushed cobalt spots. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Brown slip on interior. Exceptional size and early age with folky cobalt application. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a shallow in-the-firing ping to interior of rim, a minuscule nick to interior of rim, and two minor in-the-firing iron pings to exterior. H 4 1/8".
