Rare Oversized Redware Wall Pocket with Copper Glaze, attributed to J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, wheel-thrown form with pedestal base, flattened reverse side, and coggled rim, the front decorated with a hand-modeled and applied bird-and-floral motif. Surface decorated with a lesser-seen lead-and-copper glaze applied over a slip-coated surface. Exceptional size and glaze. Missing hanger on reverse. Shallow chips and wear to rim. Restored base chips. Restoration to bird's beak. Small unrestored but varnished base chips on reverse. Minor surface wear. H 6 3/4" ; W 4 5/8".
