Shenandoah Valley Slip-Decorated Redware Bank, Strasburg, VA origin, circa 1890, round form with carved coin slot on pedestal, the surface dipped in cream-colored slip, decorated with manganese slip brushstrokes and covered in a clear lead glaze. Unusual glaze. A firing crack extending from top to slot with a few other tiny, very minor firing cracks. A tiny fleck of glaze loss near base. H 3 5/8".
