Slip-Decorated Redware Cream Pitcher, Stamped "Backer.," Anthony Bacher, Winchester, VA, circa 1880, ovoid pitcher with short, wide collar and ribbed handle with triangular terminal, the surface dipped in cream-colored slip, decorated with marbled manganese, and covered in a clear lead glaze. Impressed with small-sized "Backer." stamp on underside. Wear to handle and rim. Other light surface wear/in-the-firing glaze spalling. Some thin bands of glaze wear to interior. A base chip and minor base nick. H 5 3/4".
