Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised Floral Decoration, Manhattan, NY origin, probably Clarkson Crolius, Sr., early 19th century, ovoid jar with open loop handles and semi-squared rim, decorated on the front and reverse with an incised and cobalt-highlighted floral motif in the Manhattan style, featuring a bud flanked by splayed leaves. Large brushed-cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A tight spider crack extending from underside to midsection on front. An approximately 7" diagonally line emanating from base on side of jar below one handle. Two in-the-firing base chips. A small rim chip and minor in-the-firing rim nick. A small, in-the-firing star-shaped chip below one handle. H 11 3/8".
