Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, Ballard Vale Stone Ware Manufacturing Co.," Ballard Vale, MA, circa 1880, a two-gallon pitcher, stamped "BALLARD VALE, / STONE WARE MAN'FG CO," with a slip-trailed flowering plant design; paired with a two-gallon cake crock with crossed slip-trailed foliate motifs, stamped "BALLARD VALE. / STONE WARE.MF.G.C." Pitcher with flake and small hole in front, leading to a hole with larger flake on interior, spots of surface wear, heavy chipping to rim, and spout chips. Cake crock with heavy rim chips, 4 3/4" and 3" cracks from rim on reverse, light surface wear near base on reverse, shallow chipping to handles, and a minor base nick. H 12 7/8".
