Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Ballardvale, MA origin, circa 1880, large-sized crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a detailed, stylized stump. Some light flaking at base on left side of crock. Otherwise excellent condition with some small traces of old blue-gray paint on reverse. H 13 1/8".
