Fine Stoneware Jug with Incised Floral Decoration, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK," early 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled shoulder, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted floral motif depicting a bud flanked by splayed leaves. Impressed below with Clarkson Crolius, Sr. maker's mark, surrounded by a brushed border. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A short Y-shaped crack on reverse at base, extending across underside and 9 3/4" up front of jug. An in-the-firing loss to spout and two tiny in-the-firing spout chips. Heavy chipping around base, some glazed over. H 12 3/8".
